After tattooing for a decade, I have tattooed all the most iconic traditional images, eagles, panthers, ships, horses, gypsies, etc. I'm still stoked any time someone brings me one of those ideas, but the tattoos that I'm the most excited to tattoo are images that push the boundaries of my style. How does that happen? Well, there are two ways, first is when I’m not sure an idea will make a good tattoo (as an example I put in this golf ball tattoo, it’s weird that it sticks out to me but it's still one of my favorite tattoos) next is when an idea has a classic image with a weird spin on it, some off the wall examples are, a castle coming out of a skull, or a mickey mouse on a lotus sitting on a dragon head, and perhaps the most iconic example is the course the panther morph.
To me, the best artists are the ones who can create something completely new while making you feel right at home, combining classic ideas with their own spin.
San Diego Flash Day
I always love doing flash days. I get to tattoo with my friends, and all the tattooers and clients are in the best mood. Here are some of my freshly painted pieces of flash for @americantattoovista flash day this weekend.
